Tonto Natural Bridge State Park

Payson, AZ - Tony and I often wondered why Arizona was growing faster than most any other state in the union. Just over an hour from the desert floor is the beautiful mountain town of Payson. Pine forest surround the town. It is home to many friendly people and a major attraction for the big city of Phoenix. About 12 miles north of Payson is the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. Make sure you leave your trailer before making the final 14% decent to the park headquarters.

An added attraction is a herd of about twenty-five Javelina that live in the park. I was lucky enough to get pictures of them grazing. Leave your dog in the car. The males will protect the herd and their long tusk have been known to kill mountain lions. It is very unlikely any dog would survive an attack.
